Goals of the CEO Mentoring Program:

  • Provide professional development opportunities for Ohio CEOs. 
  • Recruit future leaders and increase their retention and career satisfaction. 
  • Provide tools and resources to develop career paths. 
  • Prepare mentees for leadership opportunities. 
  • Further the mission, vision, and strategies of the YMCA movement and leadership roles. 
  • Empower CEO mentees to maximize their talents. 
  • Create networking opportunities outside the mentee’s current association. 
  • Give CEOs in Ohio the unique 

What are the benefits of being a mentee?

  • Increased organizational awareness 
  • Enhanced ability to navigate through the organization 
  • Creation of a professional development plan to support future growth 
  • Increased networks at all levels and in all departments 
  • Gain knowledge from experiences and insights of senior staff in the movement 
  • Develop critical skills 
  • Gain exposure to different perspectives than the one you currently experience 

What are the requirements for being a mentee?

  • Desire to learn and grow professionally 
  •  Ability to be self-reflective and responsible for creating and working towards achieving the action plan agreed on by mentor/mentee 
  • Ability to establish a relationship based on equal responsibility and respect 
  • Ability to practice problem-solving skills and to suggest options and alternatives 
  • Desire to be exposed to other perspectives 

What is my commitment as a mentee?

  • Taking ownership and driving the relationship with the mentor 
  • Monthly meetings – format determined via a collaborative decision between mentor and mentee 
  • Periodic check ins with both the mentor and mentee monthly during the year-long mentor program 

What does the application process look like?

  • Applications for both mentors and mentees will be available at ohioymcas.org. 
  • Your Strategic Consultant will pair you with a mentor.
